A woman’s deed
Woman of the Year Award – Zonta DI20 wishes to honour a woman who has distinguished herself in her work and social duties and who, through her personal commitment, professional skills and expertise, has made a significant contribution to improving the status of women in Finland.
In 2024, psychologist Kaisa Tammi received the Woman of the Year award.
Today, at a time when inequality is increasing and children and young people are suffering, showing symptoms and resorting to desperate acts, we need expert, courageous and determined women like Kaisa Tammi. Kaisa has held management positions since the early 2000s, with a particular focus on women offenders and children. Kaisa is now the acting director of the State Child Welfare Unit and is grateful for the honour she has received:
“It’s great that Zonta also recognises marginalised groups of women, such as female prisoners and the work done with them. In my current temporary position this year, I have once again noticed that girls’ issues are easily overlooked,” says Kaisa, continuing “This year’s temporary assignment has made me wonder whether we should also talk more about a working method specifically for girls.” –Pirkko Yliselä, Chair, ZDI20 Service Committee
