What We Do

We believe that a world in which everyone has the opportunity and freedom to make their own choices and live without fear of violence is the best possible option for both individuals and society. Zontians work to eliminate barriers to equality and threats to it through practical projects and advocacy at both the international and local levels. Progress toward equality is not automatic — it requires continuous effort.

Gender-based violence is a serious and widespread global problem and a violation of human rights. It threatens health and also limits women’s opportunities in society.

Education is the key to equality. It opens pathways out of poverty, enables people to take control of their lives, advance in their careers, and pursue their dreams. Zontians encourage women to become leaders — to take on leadership roles and boldly choose fields that are traditionally dominated by men.

Climate change has increased the risks faced by women and intensified existing challenges. Zontians take this into account in all their activities.
