The march is organised by UN Women Finland, the Union of Women’s Associations and the Central Union of Women’s Organisations. Zonta District 20 is a partner of the march.
Why are we marching?
The rights, status and equality of women and girls are close to the hearts of Zontians. On average, things are going well for us, but there are also major problems. With this joint march, we want to draw attention to issues that need to be addressed:
- Attitudes towards equality and equality work have taken a turn for the worse
- All forms of violence against women and girls, especially domestic violence, are a major problem
- Sexual harassment experienced by women and girls is common
- Women are highly educated, but a woman’s euro is worth 84 cents, and the situation has not changed much
- Diseases typical of women are not always taken seriously enough
- We want to encourage women to demand their rights
